Focus on: Jonny Yaxley, Azalea Landscapes – Gravedigger of the Year

I have been digging and preparing graves since 2002 in Henley, Wallingford, Aylesbury and Kidmore End cemeteries. I care greatly that the preparation, presentation and subsequent remediation works are all done with the utmost skill, respect and dedication to quality. It is the last thing we can do for our loved ones, so I make sure they are cared for to the very end.

Since 2012 I have been creating final resting places at the Henley Woodland Burial Ground situated in the picturesque Chilterns. This is a fantastic project where we are turning 40 acres of formerly arable land into native British woodland and I am very proud to be involved in it. It was for my work here, and more generally my care & dedication to the role, that I was nominated for and subsequently won the prestigious 'Gravedigger of the Year 2014' national award. I take great pride in winning the award: being acknowledged by my peers for my work was a great honour.
